All You Need to Know

  • What type of illnesses does an Allergist and Immunologist treat?
We treat patients with allergic, asthmatic, and clinical immunological disorders including allergic rhinitis (nasal allergies), allergic conjunctivitis (eye allergies), asthma, urticaria (hives), angioedema (swelling), anaphylaxis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), drug allergy, food allergy, stinging insect allergy (bee sting allergy), exercise induced asthma, and immunological conditions (immunodeficiency).
  • Are you accepting new patients?
    Yes, we welcome new patients.
  • What days are you open?

Our Marlton office is open Monday through Saturday. We also see patients in our Cherry Hill office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and in our Washington Township (Sewell, NJ) office on Mondays and Wednesdays. As our daily schedule is subject to change, please call to confirm office hours.

  • Do you accept my health insurance plan?
Advocare participates with most major insurance plans. As participation varies by region, specialty, and physician, we recommend that you contact either our office or your insurance company representative to verify that your insurance plan is accepted.

  • Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor to come to your office?

If your insurance plan requires you to obtain a referral prior to a specialty visit, you must contact your primary care doctor before visiting our office. If your plan allows a subspecialty visit without a referral, you may call us directly at 856-988-0570 to schedule your appointment.

  • How do we contact the doctor after hours?

Our medical providers are available 24 hours a day. Call the office at 856-988-0570 and follow the prompts to page a provider on call. Please be aware that after-hours calls are intended for urgent medical issues that cannot wait until the next business day. Appointment requests and routine medication refills will not be addressed via phone. Phone calls are typically returned within 15-30 minutes. Please call back if you have not received a timely response.

IN THE EVENT OF A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY, CALL 911.

  • May I request a specific physician for my visit?

Every effort is made to arrange your initial consultation and follow up visits with the physician of your choice. When you or a family member is ill, he or she may see any one of our physicians or nurse practitioner.

  • How often should I be seen in the office?

Visit schedules will vary depending on your individual characteristics and your specific medical disorder. We will discuss the expected length and duration of follow up visits during your initial consultation. Generally, we recommend that all patients be seen in our office at least yearly, but most patients are seen at intervals of two to three months.

  • When will I receive lab or test results?

You will receive a call quickly with any test results that require urgent attention. Other abnormal test results will be addressed promptly by the provider that ordered the labs or tests. Normal values are usually not reported, however, it is recommended that you call our office one week after the lab test was performed to request a copy of your results and discuss the results. This ensures that we received your test results instead of having them not reported or only reported to another physician.

  • How do I obtain a prescription refill?

Please call our office and allow one business day for all routine prescription refills. For prescriptions that require prior authorization from your insurance company, please plan ahead to allow at least three to five days for refill approval. Prescription refills for controlled substances such as cough medications are refilled Monday through Friday only.

  • What should I do if I cannot accompany my child to an office visit?

It is always best to have a parent or legal guardian accompany their child for the visit, especially for well checkups or follow up visits, as the physician may ask specific questions or require consent which only the parent or legal guardian can provide.

If it is not possible for you to accompany your child, please send a signed note with the person who will bring your child to the visit, authorizing that person to act in loco parentis. You should also send all pertinent information related to your child's care in written form. Please try to be available by phone in case the physician has a particular question or needs to discuss care management issues with you.

  • Does your office charge a fee to complete forms or letters?

Your physician may charge a nominal fee to complete school, work, disability, or other necessary forms depending upon the degree of difficulty involved, particularly if the request is not in conjunction with an office visit. Other individualized or specialty letters may require additional fees.

  • If I am currently receiving allergy shots, may I come to any of the 3 offices for my shots?

Yes, patients may come to any of our three office locations for allergy shots as long as a copy of the patient's current paperwork or current allergy vaccine vials are with the patient or other arrangements are made. Allergy injection patient hours are available at all three offices.

  • What happens if I miss my appointment?

If you must cancel or reschedule an appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so that other patients may utilize the time. There may be a charge for missed appointments that are not cancelled in advance. If you miss multiple appointments during a given period, you will be notified first. In consideration of our patients, if you continue to miss appointments without cancelling or rescheduling, you may be asked to transfer from the practice.

  • Are you affiliated with any area hospitals?

Our physicians have privileges at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, Marlton, and Berlin as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden.

  • May I bring my child's siblings to an office visit?

We encourage both parents to come for their child's appointments whenever possible, especially for checkups. However, the activity of siblings is distracting for both parent and doctor. It is usually difficult for parents to remember to ask all of their questions about even one child at an appointment; with two or more children in the room, much important information can be missed. We feel that you as the parent are the best judge of this situation. Therefore, we leave the decision to you if it is best not to schedule more than one child in the family for an appointment on the same day, except for illness or other unusual circumstances.
